You are invited to participate in the Love Your Business Epicentre Project – an initiative aimed at raising AU$100,000 per year for a period of 5 years and ending hunger for 10,000 to 15,000 people.
What is meant by ‘hunger’?
Each and every day, over 20,000 people die as a consequence of chronic, persistent hunger. The UN reports that 1 billion of our fellow human beings live in extreme poverty – defined as living on less than $1 per day – and 854 million people are chronically hungry. This is not the kind of hunger that makes headlines, as in a famine, but a silent holocaust that continues day after day, month after month.
How will the LYB Community end hunger for 10,000+ people?
The LYB Epicentre Project will end hunger for over 10,000 people by underwriting one epicentre in Africa, developed by The Hunger Project.
The Epicenter Strategy in Africa
The Hunger Project Epicentre Strategy is a proven, large-scale, low-cost methodology for empowering the people of rural communities in Africa to be the authors of their own development, and succeed in meeting all their basic needs on a sustainable basis. The Epicentre Strategy brings people from abject poverty to self-reliance in five years at a cost of $8 per person per year. There are currently 87 epicentres in Africa transforming the lives of approx one million people.
Invest in the future of humanity!
You have the opportunity to invest in the future of humanity by participating in the LYB Epicentre Project.
You are invited to make an annual financial commitment for a period of 5 years from 2009 - 2013.
Our aim is a total annual commitment of AU$100,000 which will enable us to underwrite one epicentre in Africa. This commitment will end chronic hunger and transform the lives of more than 10,000 people.
Travel to Africa
LYB Epicentre Project participants investing at a level of more than $5,000 a year in this project will have the opportunity to travel to Africa and personally visit the epicentre that the LYB Community is underwriting. This promises to be a life changing experience.

What is The Hunger Project?
The Hunger Project is a global, non-profit, strategic organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. The organisation works in 13 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to develop effective bottom-up strategies to end hunger and poverty.
The Hunger Project approach
Core to The Hunger Project’s approach is a focus on empowerment. THP aims to empower people to lead lives of self-reliance, meet their own basic needs and build better futures for their children. This approach is based on the principle that human creativity is the source of success, not solutions themselves. Ending hunger is achieved by replicating the process of human empowerment, not by finding a development model that works and replicating it.
The Hunger Project carries out its mission through three essential activities: mobilizing village clusters at the grassroots level to build self-reliance, empowering women as key change agents, and forging effective partnerships with local government.
